Social Media Report Highlights 2014In Student Social Media Report 2014, Student Spend 2014
Social media is the social interaction among people in which they create, share or exchange information and ideas in virtual communities and networks.
Well that’s the technical definition, for students’ social media is viewed as a technological world, a web of infinite connection, communication and trending. It’s ultimately a world of give and take. It’s a place where friendships, makeups and breakups reside. This social media world is the epitome of “The Matrix”…it’s a world of pretend. It gives rise to the person “I wanna be…the person a desire to be”… My Alter Ego. The truth is often subjective and shady in nature, “I tell people what I want them to see”.
Since social media’s introduction it has introduced substantial and pervasive changes to communication between organizations, communities, and individuals.
In the high level presentation, Student Village in collaboration with Amoeba insights covered a variety of topics associated with students’ social media behavior and engagement. All these elements are dealt with in greater detail within the SA Student Media Consumption Survey 2014.
4227 students across South African completed the survey
The sample was national and fully representative of SA’s population. A relatively equal gender split with a skew towards black racial profile was obtained. Students who were able to partake in the study were above 17 years of age.
